Domaine Coutelier

With three and two thirds hectares planted under vine, Domaine Coutelier is a small Boutique sized winery.

The property is divided into seven blocks according to clone and soil types.

Planted with Cabernet Sauvignon clones 46C & 15C, Carménère clone NE1A and Merlot clones 3 & 348A. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were planted in 2000 and the Carménère in 2014.

The soils on the higher landscape positions are high to very high potential Oakleaf (Oa1) soil, surrounded by medium to high potential, gravely Oakleaf (Oa2) and Tukulu (Tu1) soils, with medium to high potential, lighter textured Tukulu (Tu2) soil in between.

The Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on the eastern higher terrain while the Merlot is on the West facing slopes.

Vine rows run from South to North.

Averaging six tons per hectare of crop each year, Domaine Coutelier, aims to achieve a balanced crop with the emphasis always, always and always again on quality.

We describe our farming philosophy as sustainable.
